Why 'Keruko'?

Profile
After graduating with a degree in International Business, majoring in Japanese and marketing, Kelly headed to Tokyo where she spent several years living and working - culminating in a position as the head of marketing, recruiting and retention for the largest foreign business organization in the country.

In 2005 she returned home to spend the Giant Black Marlin Season alongside her skipper father aboard REEL CHASE and let the stress of Tokyo melt away. Having grown up at sea with parents Jim and Anne Dalling, both keen fisher people and well-known in Australian game fishing circles, Kelly soon re-imersersed herself in the Australian fishing scene.

On board she created the widely talked about Black Marlin Fishing Blog - and began posting daily fishing reports from the Coral Sea. Her on-the-pulse reporting has seen her quoted in fishing publications along the east coast and she has become a regular contributor for the same.

Nowadays, Kelly now splits her sea time between REEL CHASE and KEKOA with partner Captain Luke Fallon and writes two fishing blogs - the Black Marlin Fishing Blog, most active during the marlin season of September to December and the newly launched, Fish 2 Dish.

In 2007, Luke and Kelly also joined forces to bring Pelagic Gear, a well known Offshore Fishing Clothing Brand (think Billabong for fishing), into the country. Since then the Pelagic community has grown 10-fold and Kelly and Luke are looking at expanding lines further. Kelly has also enjoyed some success with her photographs which have been featured online and in industry magazines including BlueWater. In 2008 she produced her first photo book – Reel Chase: A Year Onboard – which is a collection of images from a typical year on board one of the busiest boats in the Australian Marlin Fishing Fleet. (This coffee table style book is available for sale here). Her photographs of all things fishing are also available for sale as both digital images as well as canvas reproductions.

And if she can find the time, Kelly also produces websites freelance by request.

Kelly’s freelance projects are conducted under her own business name Keruko. A fond ode to her time in Japan and the nickname she carried throughout her stay there.
